This is a website for communicating family history, past and present, with other family members around the world.  You must be logged in to access most of the content available and, of course, to post information about current events or family history.

loscheider.org E-Mail Addresses Are Available

If you have the last name of Loscheider you are eligible for a custom email address with your name!  Send me your full name, mailing address, current email address, a phone number where you can be reached in the evening and a brief description of how you fit into the Loscheider family tree (who was your father, grandfather, etc…).  This may seem like a lot of information but I need to be able to verify who I’m giving services to.  I won’t sell, rent or give your information to anyone else.

• How much will this cost you?  Well, nothing…. if you want to make a donation you may do so through PayPal or send me a check to my home address but you don’t have to.  Presently the website costs around $100 per year to keep alive.
• What do you get?
  • My hosting service has pretty aggressive spam filtering so most junk mail never makes it into your inbox.
  • You will have access to your mail through the email software of your choice (Mozilla thunderbird (my favorite), Outlook Express, Outlook, etc…) as well as a nice webmail interface for when you’re on the go or just like it that way.
  • 50 megabytes of space which should be plenty for most purposes.

Family Mailing List Now Available

I recently setup and have been testing a family mailing list which seems to be working well.  To sign up go to http://lists.loscheider.org/listinfo.cgi/everyone-loscheider.org and fill out the subscription form.

• Is the list secure?
  • I will not sell, rent, give away or do anything with your information other than use it for this list.
  • All members of this list will be able to log in and view who else is a member of the list.  I feel this is an important feature so you can see who you are sending announcements to.
  • I will do my best to screen all applications to this list to avoid spammers.  After you send me your information and I have verified it’s legitimacy you will receive notification that you have been added to the list.
  • The list is setup so replies go directly to the sender, NOT to the list so auto responders won’t generate a mail storm from the list.
  • When you send a message through the list, recipients will be able to see your email address.  As this is a closed, rather exclusive list I don’t see a problem with this but you should be aware of it.

• What may you use the list for?
  • The list is intended for announcing events or general news that would be of interest to other members of the family.
  • The list is NOT for political statements, chain letters or other general chatter.
